Unplug privacy policy

Unplug customizes desktop YouTube's appearance and player behavior at www.youtube.com.

Local processing

To apply your choices, Unplug processes the current YouTube URL/video identifier, link destinations, page structure and player/control state on your device. This supports interface hiding, image styling, feed batches, Shorts links and player modes. These inputs are used transiently in the current page. Unplug does not build a browsing-history log, copy page text into storage, extract account identities or messages, or record your keystrokes or viewing activity.

Saved preferences

Unplug stores only extension settings and your last selected popup tab in chrome.storage.local. They stay in your browser profile and are not synchronized using Chrome's sync storage. Preferences remain until changed or the extension is removed. Reset turns off customizations and restores normal pictures; it retains the reset preference values and popup-tab choice. Removing the extension removes its extension storage through the browser.

Transmission and sharing

Unplug has no analytics, advertising trackers, telemetry, developer servers, remote executable code or background network requests. The extension does not send settings, page content, URLs, account information or other data to its developer or third parties. No data is sold, rented or used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness or lending decisions. The developer has no access to information processed locally by the extension.

YouTube and your browser

YouTube and your browser continue their normal operations under their own privacy policies. Videos/thumbnails can still load when visually hidden. Native autoplay/chat control actions and ordinary links can cause YouTube's own code to make requests or save preferences. These website operations are distinct from extension data transmission. Unplug does not read authentication cookies, passwords or browser-history records and does not control YouTube's data practices.

Permissions

The storage permission saves preferences. A content script restricted to https://www.youtube.com/* applies interface/player customizations. The extension does not request access to other sites, browser history, cookies, accounts, location or payment information.

Limited use

Unplug's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Local page/URL information is used only for the disclosed customization purpose. It is not transferred, sold, used for personalized advertising or made available for human review.

Contact and changes

For privacy questions, use the developer contact email on Unplug's Chrome Web Store listing. If you choose to email the publisher, your email provider and the publisher receive the message you send; this is separate from the extension's automatic operation. Policy updates will appear on this page with a new effective date.
